The outstanding performer Niurka González Núñez has been invited to the 5th International Flute Convention 2006, taking place between 17 and 20 August in Manchester, England.
At the concert hall of the Royal Northern College of Music's the renowned flutist, in the category of international soloist, will perform three works: "La región más transparente" (The more transparent region) for flute and piano, by Leo Brouwer, the study Tango No. 3 by Astor Piazzola for solo flute, and the Hungarian Pastoral Fantasy for flute and piano by Francois Doppler.
This event, which brings together about 50 renowned flutists from around the world, will gather this year musicians from Europe, North America, Japan, Venezuela, Istanbul and India.
Graduated from the specialty of flute at the Instituto Superior de Arte from Havana, where she serves as teacher, Gonzalez has won many national awards and holds a diploma of the Paris Conservatory where she studied under the tutelage of Professor Sophie Cherrier.
She has also appeared as flutist and clarinetist at CDs "Cita con Ángeles", "Expedición", "Mariposas", y "Érase que se era" by singer-songwriter Silvio Rodriguez and Leo Brouwer productions, José María Vitier, Liuba Maria Hevia and Amaury Perez, among other musicians.
