As part of Leo Brouwer's second Festival of Chamber Music, various concerts will take place on October 8, 9, 13, 14 and 15 in the Basilica Menor del Convento de San Francisco de Asis, in the Historic Center of Havana, informed the organizing committee.
With five concerts with works of Alejandro García Caturla, Hilario Gonzalez and Leo Brouwer, plus two special concerts with scores composed by Cuban musicians from the nineteenth century till today (Cecilia Arizti, Gisela Hernandez, Maria Alvarez Rios, Magaly Ruiz, Tania León , Keyla Orozco and Sigri Macias).
Every concert will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the death of Alejandro García Caturla, 90th anniversary of Hilario Gonzalez, 50 of the creation of the National Chorus of Cuba and the Choral Santiago, 65th of Digna Guerra, 90th of María Teresa Linares, 80th of Lapique and Zoila Rosario Franco, 75th of Pura Ortiz and Jesus Ortega, 30th anniversary of artistic life of Maria Victoria del Collado and Amparo del Riego and 70th anniversary of Radames Giro, also a special tribute to Brazilian musician Egberto Gismonti will be held.
During this concerts we will enjoy the performances of Coro Entrevoces conducted by maestra Digna Guerra, Niurka González, Víctor Pellegrini, Amparo del Riego, String Quartet Havana, Maria del Henar Navarro, Javier Zalba, Duo PROMUSICA, Anolan González, Miguel Trápaga, Trio Joseph White, Rafael Martínez Guillén, Ana Gabriela Fernandez de Velazco, Alejandro Martínez, Susana Rivero, Jorge Ali Arango, Vocal Sampling, Trio Concertante, Santa Cecilia Wind Quintet, Harold López-Nussa, Marcelo de la Puebla and Leo Brouwer, who will lead Gismontiana for four guitars and string quartet in the closing concert on 15th October.
